After many years of community planning and advocating for the development of a winter recreation area at Battle Creek Regional Park, we are excited to announce the grand opening of this spectacular facility.
Battle Creek Regional Park becomes the first winter recreation area with machine-made snow in the East Metro. It provides access to recreation for the surrounding community and serves as a regional, statewide and national draw as a premier cross-country ski facility. In addition to 4K of lighted, machine-made snow trails for cross-country skiing, the recreation area includes two sledding hills and dedicated snowshoeing and hiking trails.
A brief program and ribbon cutting will take place on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. Speakers at the event include state and local officials and community advocates. A prototype of a plaque dedicated to Jessie Diggins will be unveiled and there will be a demonstration of the snowmaking equipment.
