Ramsey County is hosting a virtual community conversation about food security and basic needs on Monday, Sept. 28 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
An update will be given on the county's work to address priority issues identified earlier this spring, including using CARES Act funding for food and basic needs through RISE programs and other contracts, according to Ramsey County's website.
Ramsey County received a total of $96 million through the CARES Act and $72 million of it is being invested in the community through RISE programs which support housing, food, financial assistance, employment support and small business support.
Priority areas identified this spring include connecting the community to school food programs to feed the whole family, connecting the community to financial assistance and essential services, ensuring those who are homebound have access to food and essential services, creating distribution sites, increasing access to public gardens, meeting food needs of homeless individuals and increasing transportation options.
Ramsey County said all are welcome, especially those who have experience in food security work or have provided assistance during the pandemic.
