Ramsey County opened a new play area at Battle Creek Regional Park in Maplewood earlier this month.
A press release issued by the county on Sept. 1 said the area has swirly slides, zip line swings, climbing structures and more for children and their families to enjoy.
A nature play space features a play stream, fort building area and logs to run through and balance on, which the county said will engage the senses and encourage imaginative and integrated play.
The playground has equipment with universal design features that encourage children and families of all ages and abilities to play together such as an adaptive zip line swing and sensory activity panels. The play stream is motion activated, with sensors placed at different heights.
The play area, which is located next to Battle Creek Waterworks, is not clean or sanitized so the county urges families to heed COVID-19 precautions.
