The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office will be helping the COVID-19 response effort with a special team aimed at non-emergency services.

The 15-person team will go outside of the normal tasks associated with law enforcement. They will perform tasks for local residents, such as delivering groceries, medications and essential items donated by members of the community.

They will also serve at the other end of the community by coordinating and collecting donations.

And, area residents can turn to the team for information and referrals for needs including social services, financial assistance and medical assistance – including mental health.

“Coronavirus has affected all of us,” Sheriff Bob Fletcher said in his office’s news release. “Times like this can bring a lot of uncertainty and leave people wondering where to turn for help. Our Help Team will help fill that void.”

Residents can reach out to the help team either by phone or email. The phone number is 651-448-3874 and the email is HelpTeam@co.ramsey.mn.us.

The help team will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
