In reaction to the recent outbreak of COVID-19, Ramsey County took drastic measures to help protect the residents of the area.

According to Twin Cities, on March 17 Ramsey County chose to suspend all non-emergency walk-up services for park buildings, libraries and government offices from Tuesday, March 17 to Monday, March 23 at the Government Center East building on Kellogg Blvd., and St. Paul CareerForce Centers.

In lieu of being able to physically visit these places, county employees were asked to show up for work in order to man the telephone lines and computers through which emergency services could continue.

The St. Paul City Hall and Ramsey County Courthouse did not close at this time.

In order to help stop the spread of the virus, the county’s employees were also asked to help reimagine their approach to delivery services which would help to reduce person-to-person and face-to-face contact. These measures followed the state and federal public health guidelines that had been previously laid out.

According to Ramsey County, in addition to these measures, a number of cancellations took place throughout the county. These included the cancellation of extended child support hours through March 18, the Ramsey County Job Fair and the March Career Lab Workshops, as well as the cancellation of the CERT certification workshop, cancellation of March and April tours for the St. Paul City Hall and Ramsey County Courthouse, as well as all library events through the end of March.

A number of public health events and meetings have been cancelled, including the Fix-It Clinic and the Sexual Violence Prevention Committee meetings for March and early April.

Some roadwork and transportation measures were also postponed or cancelled.

For more information about closures, rescheduled events and cancellations due to COVID-19, the Ramsey County Customer Contact Center is available at 651-266-8500 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
